1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data We Do Not Collect
Verbora does not directly collect, store, or request:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or other contact details
- Account credentials or passwords
- Payment card or other financial information
- Precise location data
- Contacts, photos, camera input, or microphone recordings
- Personal messages or browsing activity outside the app
There are no user accounts, no registration flow, and no login required to use Verbora.
1.2 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Verbora stores app data locally on your device using AsyncStorage. Depending on how you use the app, that data may include:
- Lesson status, lesson attempts, scores, and completion progress
- Word learning stages and review progress
- Missed meanings and review queues used for follow-up practice
- Practice dates, streak-related activity, and daily lesson or practice counts
- Your wordsPerDay study setting
- Your appearance preference (system, light, or dark)
This data is used only to make the app function for you. Parklane Labs does not receive or store this learning data on its own servers.
2. Third-Party Services
2.1 Google AdMob (Advertising)
Verbora integrates Google AdMob to display advertisements. Depending on your device, region, and Google's own systems, AdMob may collect or process data such as:
- Advertising identifiers
- Device and app information
- Approximate location inferred from IP address
- Ad impressions, clicks, and related diagnostics
Verbora uses the following ad formats:
- Interstitial ads
- Rewarded ads
- Native ads
Google handles this data under its own privacy policy:
You can also manage ad personalization settings on your Android device through Google's ad settings.
2.2 Expo Services and App Delivery
Verbora is built with Expo. Expo-related services may process limited technical information needed for app delivery, updates, diagnostics, or platform compatibility, such as:
- App version and build information
- Platform and device class information
- Technical diagnostics related to app delivery
Expo's privacy policy is available here:
2.3 Device Speech Services for Pronunciation
Verbora uses your device's text-to-speech capabilities to play word pronunciations. We do not run a separate pronunciation server, and Verbora does not send your learning progress to Parklane Labs in order to provide this feature.
3. How We Use Information
Because Verbora stores your learning data locally, the app uses that data only to support your study experience, including to:
- Show lesson progress and completion state
- Calculate streaks, daily activity, and practice progress
- Build review flows around words or meanings you missed
- Remember your study target and appearance preferences
- Control lesson and practice access flows tied to app usage
We do not use your locally stored learning data to create a personal profile on Parklane Labs servers.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Your app data remains on your device until you remove it.
You can delete data in the following ways:
- Use Reset All Progress inside the app's Profile screen to clear learning progress and activity history
- Uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data from your device
Please note that Reset All Progress clears progress data, but some app preferences may remain until the app is uninstalled.
Because Parklane Labs does not keep a server-side copy of your learning data, we cannot delete data remotely on your behalf.
5. Children's Privacy
Verbora is intended for a general audience of learners and students preparing for advanced vocabulary or competitive verbal exams. It is not directed to children under 13.
Verbora does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. However, third-party services such as Google AdMob may process device-level advertising data under their own policies. Parents and guardians should review Google's privacy materials if they have concerns about advertising-related data handling.
6. Data Security
Verbora keeps your learning data on your device. The security of that data depends primarily on your device's own protections, such as screen lock, encryption, app sandboxing, and operating system security.
Parklane Labs does not maintain a cloud copy of your progress data, which reduces exposure through centralized storage.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Last updated date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through app release notes or other in-app notices where appropriate.
